NavioData is run by Dylan Wentink — a Chief Engineer with over 10 years on motor and sailing yachts from 25m to 81m.

I'm currently working as Technical Consultant on an 80m new build at a leading Dutch shipyard — overseeing technical systems, commissioning, and yes, building the PMS database.

Why I Started NavioData

I've inherited bad databases.

Equipment missing. Intervals wrong. Spare parts that don't match what's actually onboard. Maintenance tasks mapped to systems instead of individual equipment. Tasks copied from a sister vessel with completely different machinery.

One of my greatest headaches was preparing for a 5-year shipyard period and realising I had to go through every manual and every spares box to work out what maintenance actually needed to be done, what spares we had, and what needed to be ordered.

What should have been done properly from the start ended up taking hours and hours — on top of running the vessel operationally with guests onboard.

I started NavioData so the next engineer doesn't inherit the same problems I did.

Approach

This isn't outsourced data entry.

I do the work myself. Every equipment hierarchy, every maintenance task, every spare part — extracted and structured by someone who understands how it will actually be used onboard.

I deliver a complete data foundation: comprehensive equipment records, manufacturer maintenance schedules, and full spare parts catalogs.

What I don't do is make operational decisions for you.

Criticality ratings, minimum stock levels, task priorities — these depend on your vessel's cruising program, operational profile, and your own experience. A yacht running Mediterranean summers has different priorities than one cruising the Pacific.

If you want criticality classifications and stock recommendations included, I'll provide templates and work through them with the crew for confirmation — or send my recommendations for you to review and adjust.

Either way, the final decisions sit where they should — with the Chief Engineer and HODs who actually run the vessel.

My job is to give you complete, accurate data so you can make those decisions with clarity, not guesswork.
